Modern Lakeside House Build Almost Exclusively Out Of Wood
We love the fact that there are so many different ways to design and build a house. That makes each and every project unique and allows us to discover new and amazing ideas every day. Today’s inspiration source is a house located in Las Cabras, Chile. It’s a project developed by PAR Arquitectos and a rather unusual one with many interesting features.
First of all, the house’s proximity to a lake meant that an elevated platform was needed so the water can run underneath the house in case of a flood. Also, the views became a major component in the design and large windows and openings were created in order to take advantage of them. The most unusual feature however remains the floor plan and the overall framework of the house in general.
The building is almost entirely built out of wood which gives it a distinctive look and also helped keep the cost of the project low and made use of locally-sourced supplies. The floor plan is interesting because the house is basically made up of two volumes which intersect perpendicularly and look as if they’re passing through one another. That means one of the volumes is slightly taller than the other. This one houses the public areas such as the living room, kitchen, dining area, laundry room and it also incorporates a barbecue terrace. The second volume houses the private spaces and shares a very similar design. In total they offer 138 square meters of space and they do so in a very intriguing manner.
