If you ever want to make a top with the most romantic destinations in the world, Venice will certainly be among the first five because it is so beautiful and filled with history, it is unique and amazing. A miracle in itself, the city that is built on a lagoon never ceases to amaze everybody and reveals little wonders of architecture that are old, but still so modern, a nice and intriguing contrast, like this Elegant Hotel Danieli in Venice.
The hotel has a long history behind which takes us back to the 14th century when there were the first historical mentions about the palazzo owned by the Dandolos, a rich Venetian family. The place was turned into a hotel only in the 19th century and it has undergone several capital changes and architectural reconstructions ever since.
But if you leave the history aside, you will discover a wonderful place to visit, a hotel with personality and style that is in the heart of Venice, located close on Riva degli Schiavoni, a walk away from Piazza San Marco. The hotel is a luxurious one, with elegance and history and the latest interior changes were made by the French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice. He designed the interior of the suites after four famous women and tries to show each of their personalities in the decoration of each suit: Greta Garbo, Maria Callas and Princess Grace of Monaco. Let’s not forget about the Royal suite that captures the essence of Venice during the reign of Doge Enrico Dandolo.
As you can see from the photos the atmosphere in this hotel is absolutely amazing and you have many opportunities there: to admire the mixing of new and old, modern and ancient, history and good taste. The terrace on top of the hotel allows you direct view on the laguna and the restaurant will take you to a journey in the world of tastes and smells.
But what I find really amazing about this hotel is the way in which they succeeded to decorate and design it on the outside and inside. It is amazing to see a century old building that is equipped with all the modern technology you need for great comfort and also to maintain that air of mystery and history lingering on the walls. You can picture yourself back to the time of doges and princes when staying in the luxurious rooms and suites of the hotel, beautifully arranged and looking like in history books, only being real. The paintings on the ceilings, the portraits on the walls, the wallpaper in the rooms and the heavy fabrics used for the curtains, they are all very much specific to the 19th century. And so is the furniture. The building was a palace and it shows by grandeur and luxury.
You feel charmed from the entrance and also impressed because you can see the gorgeous and huge staircase that takes your breath away and the heavy crystal candelabras hanging from the ceiling, over the solid expensive wood furniture. The marble columns and the arches are so graceful and classy and everything inside makes a strong impression. More about it and reservations on the hotel web site.
