Contemporary Home Built Into A Slope With Gorgeous Views

The location and the site often dictate the design of the structure built on it. So what kind of home do you build when you have a site with gorgeous bay views on a gentle slope? The answer can be found in the following photos describing a residence located in Sardinia, Italy.

The project was named Casa SO and was developed by architect Luca Marastoni in collaboration with interior design Bonvecchio, responsible for all the custom furniture and details that give the house a contemporary look.

The architect’s history of experimenting with different materials and techniques definitely helped shape this unusual residence. Partially built into the slope, the structure has some odd angles that follow the architecture of the terrain and, in combination with the green roofs, allow everything to blend into the landscape.

Apart from the architecture, the project stands out thanks to a really interesting and unusual swimming pool with a design inspired by a shell. The pool is surrounded by a teak deck and complemented by a jacuzzi.

The interior is soothing and modest, although the whole décor is stylish and sophisticated. The living room features a custom-designed sectional sofa facing the full height glass wall and the adjacent open deck which is actually an outdoor living space with a sleek shade sail.

A low coffee table with a rectangular shape adds a bit of warmth to the décor with is otherwise defined by neutral colors and cool tones. The entire interior is actually built around the strong contrasts between the concrete surfaces and the wood accents.

The dining area is part of the same open plan and has a very simple but very charming and romantic décor. The solid oak table coordinates well with the light-colored flooring. A set of lucite chairs are organized around it and a wall-mounted sconce and a series of sculptural floor lamps are the only artificial light sources in this particular area. The dining area gets to enjoy panoramic views on two sides.

The kitchen is spacious and has a particularly warm and soothing ambiance offered by all the custom teak furniture and the overall chromatic palette. A long marble top blend in and all the furniture and amenities are in perfect sync.

The bathrooms are equally stylish. The blue tiled walls give the space a fresh and relaxing feel. The palette of materials and colors is the same as in the rest of the house. The glass walk-in shower, the large wall-mounted mirror, the elegant vanities and the chic sconces are all carefully selected details.
