Scarecrows Are Getting Ready To Take Over Your Lawn This Halloween
Every year schools from London and South East England get ready to participate at the Schools’ Scarecrow Competition. each year a new theme is set. After the wonderful success of last year’s Rocket Science creations, the competition set A Walk on the Wild Side as this year’s theme. Between the 4th and the 9th of July 2017 a ton of interesting and unique designs entered the contest. We were definitely impressed by some of them and we immortalized them so we could share them with you this Halloween.
Let’s quickly go over some of the rules of the contest. All the scarecrows had to include an element of plant material, whether fresh, living or dried and this was a way of celebrating nature and the diversity of the flora as well as a detail that relates to the history of the scarecrow. The scarecrows had to be made from scratch and able to withstand all weather conditions. Obviously, they had to follow the theme but you’re free to choose any idea you want.
Scarecrows are not exactly the most popular Halloween decorations and it’s a shame because there are so many interesting ways in which they can be customized and a lot of great themes to choose from. The competition we just mentioned is an event that materializes all of these ideas and more. Keep in mind that these scarecrows were all designed and built by kids. Since we know how creative they can get, it’s no surprise to find all of these ingenious ideas that they came up with. So what do you say? Is a Halloween scarecrow the next thing on your to-do list? We’re definitely feeling inspired right now and we hope you are too.
