Gorgeous Cape Town House Upgraded With a Pool Penthouse

A view as amazing as this deserves to be enjoyed to its fullest. That’s why the old house that used to occupy this gorgeous piece of land in Cape Town, South Africa was completely renovated by studio Jenny Mills Architects

In fact, the old roof was replaced with something else entirely: a two-floor penthouse. As a result of that there are now two separate units on the same property. The penthouse even has its own entrance with access from the upper road.

With this massive new addition and the other design changes done to the house, the entire building transformed into a tranquil retreat with a sculptural design, a very strong connection to the environment and magnificent views. By choosing a palette of muted colors such as greys, whites and neutrals, the architects allowed the focus to be on the topography and the panoramic views rather than on the building itself.

The interior of this spectacular residence is characterized by an abundance of natural light coming through the strategically positioned windows and an organic and seamless connection to the outdoors ensured by large openings, sliding glass doors and a multitude of outdoor areas that are easily accessible from various parts of the house.

The kitchen and dining area are the central hub together with the living room. There’s a large kitchen island with seating on both sides, a table for six, a cozy lounge area and easy access outside onto a deck and a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean. This sort of transparency can also be noticed throughout the rest of the house in areas like the spacious master bathroom which has its own terrace or the bedrooms. The landscape is, as a result, a constant presence throughout the entire property.
