DIY Glitter Wine Glasses For New Year’s Eve

You can’t have a New Year’s Eve party or New Year’s Eve celebration without some sort of glitter glassware! If your wine glasses, in particular, are not looking as festive as they could, then today’s DIY is just for you! In today’s project, I will be showing you how to make your own set of glitter wine glasses!

The project I’m making today involves taking some plain wine glasses and updating them with some glitter! This project is super easy to make for a beginning crafter and only uses a few inexpensive supplies. For example, the wine glasses that were used in this tutorial were bought from the Dollar Store. With that thought in mind, I would not use your best wine glasses for this project. Personally, I would recommend going out and buying some cheap wine glasses or using some old wine glasses, since these glittered wine glasses won’t be able to go in the dishwasher.

Also for this project, you may want to use several colors of glitter for your wine glasses, so they could sort act as ”wine glass charms” for your guests. For instance, you might know that your wine glass was the gold one, while your best friend had the silver one.

Materials For Glittered Wine Glasses

Supplies you’ll need to glitter wine glasses:

  • Wine Glass
  • Glitter
  • Decoupage Glue
  • Foam Brush
  • Clear Acrylic Spray
  • Masking Tape (not pictured / optional)

Step by step guide to glitter wine glasses:

Before Getting Started: Make sure your wash your wine glasses before starting the steps in this project.

Glittered Wine Glasses - Step 1

Step 1: Grab your wine glass and tape off a small part of the glass stem. Then apply a generous amount of decoupage glue to the glass stem. Finally, sprinkle on your glitter until the glass stem is covered. Once you’re happy with the look of your glass stem, set it aside to dry.

Keep repeating this step with your other wine glasses.

Glittered Wine Glasses - Spray

Step 2: Now grab your clear acrylic spray and spray your glittered wine glass stem. When your wine glass stem has been sprayed, set it aside to dry.

Keep repeating this step with your other wine glasses.

Once all your wine glasses have been decorated and sprayed, you’re ready to use them!

These glittered wine glasses turned out so cute and would be a perfect project to make with a bunch of your friends!

As I mentioned before, you will not want to put these wine glasses in the dishwasher. In this case, you will want to hand wash these glittered wine glasses, so you can preserve the glitter for as long as possible. Also, if you didn’t have a clear acrylic spray on hand, you could apply another layer of decoupage glue to seal in the glitter instead. Finally, this project could be made using chunky glitter (which is what I used) or ultra-fine glitter!
