Summer is here, the weather is nice and we all want to enjoy it while it lasts. So what better way to do that than with a summer outdoor party? Whether you invite your friends or your family to a barbeque or you organize something fancier in the backyard, the whole idea is to relax and to have fun. But there’s also prep work involved. You first have to get the whole space ready and then to decorate it accordingly.
Prep the yard.
Before you start moving furniture outside and arranging the whole area, the yard needs to be nice and clean. So you should mow the lawn a day prior to the party to give it a nice fresh look. Also, if you have a pool, make sure it’s clean and usable.
Clean the entryway.
The entryway is important because it creates the first impression when someone comes to visit. So a clean and beautiful entryway will ensure a good first impression and the respect and admiration of your guests.
Set up seating areas.
Then it’s time to decorate the yard. It’s important to have enough seating for everyone. You want your guests to feel comfortable to set up spacious seating areas with plenty of chairs and preferably outdoor sofas.
Choose food for everyone.
When you choose the food you’ll be serving at the party, make sure you cover all tastes so everyone can enjoy it. Include a vegetarian dish and take into consideration spices and flavors. Also, try to remember if anyone has any allergies.
Prep the food in advance.
The food needs to be prepared at least one hour in advance. You don’t want to be cooking when your guests start arriving. It should all be ready by then so that you can entertain your guests and have fun with everyone else.
Set up outdoor lighting.
Summer parties usually end well after the sun sets. In fact, they start at sunset when the weather becomes more friendly. So it’s important to ensure pleasant outdoor lighting to create a nice atmosphere.
Prepare the grill area.
If you plan on having a barbeque, then you should prep the grill area in advance. In needs to be clean and ready when the guests arrive. This way you avoid making them wait and you also spare them the rather unpleasant scene.
Create a lemonade stand.
A lemonade stand would be a marvelous idea for a backyard party. Surely everyone would appreciate a cold and fresh drink. Also, the stand would be a nice decoration for the yard. Be practical and turn a nightstand into a lemonade stand. This way you’ll also have storage drawers.
DIY – turn an old wine barrel into a chiller.
Another great idea for an outdoor summer party is to have a chiller to keep the drinks cold. You can make your own out of an old wine barrel. Just cut it in half and put it up on a stand.
Set up yard games.
An outdoor party would be boring without games. So arrange the area and set up yard games for everyone. You can be creative and adapt some classics or come up with ideas of your own.
