Five Elevated Cabins Make This Hotel In Italy A Unique Destination

The Floris Green Suites Hotel is not your average tourist destination. It’s actually quite different from any other hotel and you can easily see why. This beautiful complex is located in Siusi, Italy and has magnificent mountain views and gorgeous landscape all around it. But instead of a linear row of hotel rooms inside a concrete box, these suites are actually designed in a very different and unique way.

Studio noa* which stands for Network of Architecture was asked to expand the existing hotel and to add 10 new suites that the guests could enjoy. They did this by incorporating the suites into a series of standalone structures which are raised 3 meters above the ground.

All the structures have identical designs. They feature a bold and clean geometry inspired by the classical cabin design and each one has two stacked rooms, slightly offset on different levels. There’s five of these units in total. The suites are positioned at a slight angle and although they have big glass walls and are very open to the exterior, they also have a very intimate and self-contained design. All the rooms get to enjoy spectacular views of the park and the surrounding landscape and they have access to small balconies.

The modules were raised off the ground which leaves the area underneath open and allows them to have minimal physical impact on the land. Also, the views are even better from up high which offers a secondary advantage to this unusual design approach. On the exterior, they feature wooden facades and subdued green frames which help them to look more natural and organic and to more easily blend in with the landscape. Also, this creates a uniform look which links all these standalone buildings.
