Concrete House Floats Above The Argentinian Countryside

Every house has its own way of interacting with the surroundings. For the Nono House, the strategy was to direction the attention towards the views and the beautiful and relaxing countryside landscape. This ultimately allows the structure to look as if it’s floating in the air even though it actually has a very solid base which anchors it into the ground. The house was designed and built by studio Contino – D’Elia Arquitectos and is located in Sierra de los Padres, in Argentina. The project was completed earlier this year.

This modern concrete house acts as a holiday retreat for family and friends, a place where one can reconnect with nature and enjoy the simplicity of a rural setting without giving up everyday modern comforts. Architecture and nature complement each other and bring out their best features. The ground floor of the house is what ultimately gives the impression of a lightweight, floating structure by focusing the gaze towards the views rather than the house itself. Inside, the staircase acts as both the link between the floor and a divider between different sections of the home. The overall impression is that of a strong bond with nature.
