A Flexible Design Transforms A Studio Into A Work And Study Paradise

An apartment that measures only 33 square meters located in Moscow was completely transformed by the architects of Ruetemple who gave it a dynamic makeover focusing on the user’s needs and lifestyle. The studio is a cube-shaped shape divided into two levels but with the top floor too low to stand in.

The architects came up with a design for a modular structure they’ve named “cube”. It consists of three mobile modules which can be combined and arranged in a variety of ways. The space can be either a living room, a parlor or a bedroom with either one or two beds, depending on the configuration of the modules.

Each module features a bench with built-in storage and open walls which can be hooked together or separated plus an overhang that can create a roof when the modules are pushed together. Because they’re all built on wheels, they can easily be rolled around.

At the other end of the room, fixed furniture was used to create a work space with desks, cupboards, shelves, a window nook with storage underneath and a staircase that leads up to the mezzanine. This area features a hammock floor and is designed for recreation. The skylights provide nice views and a series of identical pendant lights illuminate the space evenly.
