Modern And Traditional Work Together In A Flawless 38 Sqm Studio Design

You rarely see a balance of styles, textures, materials and colors as beautiful as in this apartment. Located in Trastevere, in Rome, Italy, this studio apartment is very intriguing and very stylish. It was a project by Archifacturing, completed in 2011.

The architects chose to use a combination of modern and traditional elements in order to achieve a soothing but also visually interesting design and décor for the apartment.

The studio measures a total of 38 square meters but it seems much more spacious than that. Designers Sara Cimarelli and Giorgio Opolka found a way to exploit the available space to the full. As you can see, there’s a very nice and continuous layout and the rooms seem to communicate beautifully. At the same time, the spaces are well delimited.

The furniture in the apartment was custom designed for the project and allows several functions to exist in the same space. The living and sleeping areas are placed on different levels and this way they are better divided. The striking combination of styles is perhaps most visible in the kitchen area where smooth and minimalist modern elements coexist with rough, unfinished elements. The wooden beams on the ceiling and stone walls stand out without disrupting the harmony.
