Flat Roof House In Australia With Big Glazed Sections And A Timeless Design
This Australian house is located in Portsea and was designed and built by FGR Architects. It has a very simple and minimal geometry which comes in response to its unique location. The pure and simple design gives this flat roof house a contemporary appearance and helps it stand out in relation to its neighbors and the landscape. At the same time, this simplicity allows the focus to be on the sweeping views and the beautiful landscape that surrounds the house. Everything is contained within a linear, rectangular volume which measures 30 meters in length and 11 meters in width and is partially cantilevered. The floating section creates a covered parking space able to accommodate three cars, easily accessible from the driveway.
A series of stone steps go up the slope and lead to the main entrance at the back of the house. The living area is a big and open space with a glazed facade and large windows that frame views of the coastal landscape at the front of the house. The kitchen is large and spacious, featuring a magnificent limestone island, a centerpiece complemented by black cabinetry and light timber flooring. It overlooks the deck and swimming pool and has an uninterrupted view of the entire area beyond that. The cantilevered volume houses three bedrooms and two bathrooms with decors that mimic the minimalist exterior and welcome the outdoors in through large skylights and pivot windows.
