Instructions to build a faux white fur stool step by step:

Step 1: Prepare the fabric

Layout your stool over your fabric piece. You want the piece of fabric to be at minimum a few inches (ideally 6-8″ wider all round the stool for wiggle room) larger than your stool top.

With the fabric wrong side up and your stool upside down on top of it, using a pencil, draw a large circle around the stool. Keep your circle a few inches wider in diameter. It’s okay if your stool isn’t a perfect circle!

Step 2: Use heavy-duty fabric scissors

Cut around the circle you drew with your heavy-duty fabric scissors. Most faux fur fabrics shouldn’t require any binding or treatment to the edges. This will provide you a circle that is bigger than your stool top (make sure it is at least a couple inches so that you have enough for the next couple steps.

Step 3: Pin it

Flip your stool and fabric right side up. Center the fabric on top of the stool and then gather the faux fur fabric beneath the stool. Pinch together and secure with a large heavy duty safety pin. Continue to do this around the legs and the other edges of the stool. There is no perfect technique, just gather and pin to look. The fluffiness of the fabric should allow for imperfections in shape and will also cover the safety pins once secured so they’re not easily visible beneath the stool. Easy as that!

If you decide that you want a more permanent technique, you can opt to glue or staple (if using a wooden stool) your fabric. We liked this version because it offers a glamorous look that you can easily remove with the change of seasons!
