A 3 meter high, 125 square meter across space was transformed by KC Design Studio into a gorgeous family home and we absolutely love the interior. The residence is situated in Taipei, Taiwan and one of the defining structural elements which immediately stands out is the steel girder which the designers chose to turn into an integral part of the new decor rather than try to hide.

The interior design as a whole is both modern and natural, two styles that don’t necessarily go together and which complement each other beautifully in this case. As a matter of fact, the entire interior of this place is defined by a certain duality. What we meant by that is that certain elements such as the walls, the floor and the ceiling are very well differentiated in some cases and in other cases they extend and combine seamlessly.

In the living room, kitchen and dining area the ceiling is decorated with several arched sections which contrast with the polished floor and the walls. The ceiling also adds a lot of warmth to this area and the wood and the shapes contrast with the rugged exposed concrete visible along the edges. There’s a very interesting balance between all these elements which is noticeable in other sections of this beautiful home. In the bedrooms the floor seamlessly extends to the walls which in turn extend to the ceiling, creating this very interesting and unexpected visual effect and also establishing continuity between the spaces. The most beautiful thing about this home as a whole is the fact that different styles coexist harmoniously and different materials and elements complement each other but also stand out independently.
