The Coziness Of A Family Home Captured In Black And White
When you think “family home”, black and white are definitely not the first colors that come to mind. It’s why using these to create a cozy and friendly ambiance is a challenge and the results are even more interesting this way.
Located in the Czech Republic, this lovely home started as an empty space with just the staircase in the middle of the ground floor. OOOX managed to transform it into the inviting home it is now and they employed a rather unusual selection of colors.
The team was asked to renovate the whole space and to also rethink the layout. They ended up creating an open space ground floor with a comfy sitting area occupying the nook in between the staircase and the glass walls.
A view from above reveals how the different light fixtures were strategically spread throughout the space to create a comfortable and pleasant ambiance for everyone.
The staircase was already installed these so all they had to do was add the finishing touches: the net wall and the color.
The ground floor continues with a casual dining table featuring a simple wooden top. The white dining chairs feature a variety of shapes and designs but they stay cohesive. Four concrete minimalist pendant lights give this area a distinguished look. You can made something similar easy using this tutorial.
At a closer look you can see that the floating dining table is actually an extension of the kitchen island.
Very simple and with everything hidden out of sight in the built-in wall unit, the kitchen has a subtle industrial flair. The lighting fixtures point that out in a stylish way.
Look past the dining table and you’ll see the entrance. The area is encased in glass and a sliding panel opens to connect the two zones.
This series of open and closed cubbies on the wall is the simplified and more interesting version of a bookcase. The white, black and oak units are combined and scattered on the wall, creating a focal point that ties the whole room together.
To the right on the “bookcase”, a glass door connects the living space to the outdoors.
The upstairs is a zone dedicate to sleep and relaxation. A beautiful white bed with a wooden headboard is complemented by a bookcase divider meant to separate it from the rest of the space and to also ensure a little bit of privacy.
The black light fixtures borrow a few things from the chic industrial style and the pillows harmoniously bring the décor together.
There’s also a walk in shower here with a black interior meant to contrast with the bright and serene décor. The two spaces are separated by a glass wall.
Cord light fixtures casually hang from the white beams to illuminate the bathroom and to emphasize the somewhat rough finish on the walls.
The second bathroom couldn’t be more different. It’s a white and very bright and open space with the occasional black accents. A ladder rests on the wall and serves as a towel rack and the washbasin sits on wooden shelves meant to add a little bit of warmth to the space.
