An Eclectic House With a Weathered Look And A Very Sophisticated Interior
This magnificent two-storey house occupies a quaint little piece of land in Masuria, Poland. It looks like it’s been here for ages even though it’s a recent project and that’s because of the palette of materials and finishes used throughout the build. The exterior of the house is clad in brick and wood which have been reclaimed from various old structures in the area along with all the shingles that cover up the large roof surfaces.
On the interior, designer Aleksandra Miecznicka used a lot of warm neutrals and layered textures to create a wonderfully inviting ambiance. There are lots of different stylistic influences here, most notably French and English accents which adds a rustic touch to the decor. At the same time, the interior is very elegant and ultimately perfectly suited for a modern residence.
The house is structured on two levels. The common areas such as the living room, kitchen and dining room are placed on the ground floor where they get easy access outdoors. A series of sliding glass doors invite the beautiful views and the sunlight inside while at the same time making the beautiful patio easily accessible from the living area. The elegant and classical furniture adds a very glamorous touch to each of the rooms without stealing the attention away from the tranquil and peaceful views of the garden and the rest of the surroundings. The sitting area is placed at the center of the open floor plan, framed by a beautiful stone-clad fireplace on one side and floor-to-ceiling windows on the other. The upper section of the house is dedicated to all the private rooms and is just as charming and impeccably elegant.
