Put up a Christmas tree on your porch, but not just any tree: a pallet tree. We got this cool idea from jolenescrafting and we think it’s wonderful. Turning a pallet into a Christmas tree seems pretty easy and once you have the shape you can have tons of fun decorating the tree, painting it and everything else. Doesn’t it look lovely?

Chances are you already have some wooden logs around the house or at least you can easily get your hands on some. With that in mind, check out how adorable these log Santas are. This is such an easy project even kids could do it (well, after you cut the logs at an angle of course). You just need some red and white paint, a marker, little pom-poms for the noses and a thick ribbon to tie them together with. We found this idea of smartgirlsdiy.

We also really like the Christmas light balls featured on christmaslightsetc. They’d look beautiful out in the front yard and around the garland and they’re actually pretty easy to make. Cut some chicken wire and shape it into a cylinder, then turn it into a ball shape by pushing the sides together. When you’re happy with how it looks take some LED Christmas lights and wrap them around the ball. It would be best to not leave these in the rain or snow.

Another nice project you could do is to turn a wooden crate into a planter for a miniature Christmas tree. All you need to do is basically to tie a bow around the crate so it looks nice and pretty. You can also stain or paint it if you want to. Put the tree inside and add some fabric around to fill the gaps. This can be displayed out on the porch. Check out toworkwithmyhands for more details about the project.

We also came across this really beautiful Christmas porch decor idea from lizmarieblog and there’s a lot going on here. Our favorite piece is the JOY sign displayed on the front door. You can make something like this out of some pallet wood or just some scrap pieces you may have lying around. Make a board, paint it white and then use some red paint to add a J and a Y. Leave space in the middle for a wreath that will become the O.

Decorating the outdoor spaces for Christmas can actually be simple if you decide to use basic and natural elements like wood, greenery, pine cones and such. You can have all these things displayed on the porch, in bowls, baskets, planters and so on. A really example showing how that could look like can be found on onsuttonplace.

Have you ever looked at globe lights and thought…they kind of look like large Christmas ornaments? Well they do and you could actually turn them into ornaments if you wanted to. Check out homestoriesatoz to see it can be done and how you can display them around the house. We love how they look with those mini wreaths around them as a base.

Not sure how to decorate your deck or porch this year without making it too Christmassy but still keeping the holiday spirit alive? We found a very nice idea on ploughyourownfurrow that we think would just work just wonderfully. Take a few planters and put some pine cones and greenery on top. You can also mix in a few Christmas ornaments too to add some color to the decor.

Now let’s check out something a bit different: a giant star. This one is made using yardsticks and Christmas lights and we think it’s a very creative project. Also, it’s very inexpensive which makes it even better. You can hang your giant star outside or just casually lean in against a wall on your porch. In any case, it should stand out, especially at night. Check out littlebitfunky to find out all the details of this quirky project.

Maybe you’d like to plan a rustic Christmas decor this year using reclaimed items. We got the idea from sarahjoyblog. The vintage wagon featured here is really cool and so is everything else, even the old metal bucket and the firewood. It just shows that you can do beautiful things using anything available and that old items can look trendy and fresh in the right context.

You might also want to check out nestingblissfullyinteriors. That’s where we came across this lovely farmhouse Christmas decor. We find it very charming and also not that difficult to replicate. Many of the items used are things you might already have around the house. A little bit of Christmas magic and the transformation will be complete.

Miniature Christmas trees are perfect for the outdoors. They’re super versatile and cute and they even look charming when they’re plain and have no ornaments. A good plan could be to get 3 or 4 little trees, to put them in buckets or some large planters and to display them outside on the porch or in the yard. You can add Christmas lights so they look nice at night too if you want. Also, you can complement them with a few vintage luminaries. Check out frenchcountrycottage for more wonderful ideas.

If you have a covered porch that’s protected from the elements it might be nice to make it look super cozy and welcoming for Christmas. The key here is to use soft and fluffy fabrics and different textures. You can use accent pillows, blankets, maybe a little rug too and of course the usual decorations. Wreaths and Christmas trees are always comforting and give a sense of warmth and happiness. For more inspiring ideas check out homestoriesatoz.

A similarly cozy-looking porch was featured on yellowprairieinteriors. Here the centerpiece is a vintage church pew turned into a cute little bench with Christmas pillows pinned down on it. There’s also a small area rug framing it which has a geometric black and white pattern. There’s also a couple of miniature trees on either side of the pew, a sign resting on top of it and something quite unusual behind it: an old garden rake decorated with greenery.

As mentioned before, you can make a porch or entryway look very nice using greenery. You can definitely take advantage of the already existing trees and potted plants and also add wreaths, garlands and decorative branches. The little wheelbarrow filled with wood pieces look absolutely lovely here and wait till you see this porch lights up at night. This is one of the coolest-looking Christmas decorations ever and it’s absolutely perfect for the outdoor areas. You may not realize it at first but that gift box is actually a block of concrete. It was painted and then a giant frog tape bow was added. It’s definitely a very creative and original project and you can find out all about it on chicacircle.

You can either buy your Christmas trees or you can make them. If you choose the second option it just happens that we have the perfect project to show you. It’s featured on twotwentyone and it shows how you can make Christmas trees using tomato wire cages and garlands. The Christmas lights are added at the very end and they add a whimsical touch to the whole project.

We also really like this project from smartschoolhouse which shows how to make giant lollipops out of paper plates. It’s quite simple actually. The supplies required include paper plates, green and red paint, wooden dowels, glue (or a glue gun), scissors, ribbon and cellophane. That can actually be a cool Christmas project for kids given how easy it actually is.

Speaking of candy and Christmas projects, what do you think about a giant candy cane in your yard? You can definitely make one and it wouldn’t be too difficult. Obviously, it would be decorative. You’ll use PVC pipes to build it, tape and paint to decorate it. You could even leave it out in the yard after Christmas is over since it looks cool and isn’t necessarily Christmas-related. In any case, you can check out ehow to find out the details.
