  1. Fold a piece of your black construction paper in half and draw one half of a small bat at the crease of the paper. If you are having trouble free hand drawing a bat shape, print the outline of a bat and us that as your template to draw.
  2. Cut out several bats for your mobile with your paper scissors. It’s quickest to draw your bats on a folded piece of paper so that you can cut one half of or two full bats at the same time by cutting through two pieces of paper at the same time.
  3. To attach your bats to the mobile, cut 4 strands of yarn in varying sizes. First pull them all through your embroidery hoop (about equal distant apart on the hoop). Pull up with a small amount of slack on each of the strands and tie a loop knot at the top to serve as the top portion (where you can hang the mobile from a hook). From each strand of yarn that will hang down from the mobile, attach bats with tape (but first fold the bats in half if you haven’t already to give them some depth).
  4. Attach the rest of your bats. If you want to conceal your tape you can attach two bats to either side of the yarn in the same place with double sided tape (or tape rolled over to be sticky on both sides of a loop).

Hang your bat mobile in a place where it can get a slight breezy (like near an open window or a door that opens frequently) to get a bit of a breeze which will allow it to “fly”!
