Dipped & Lightly Jazzed Office Pots: An Easy DIY

I’m a big fan of DIYs that take something inconspicuous from around the house and transform it into something entirely different. But, I’m also a fan of taking something inconspicuous from around the house, lightly jazzing it up and using it for a different purpose but still keeping its original identity intact. Like these clay pots, I had them lying around so I decided to  brighten then up just a tad and use them to hold some office supplies in my corner desk. Let’s take a look at what I did!

Materials:

  • clay pots
  • assortment of craft paints
  • paint brushes
  • Sharpie marker

Start painting! I decided to stick with a super simple ” dipped” theme for all three pots – so they’d still look like, well, pots! I decided to go with brighter colored paint, which worked great since the clay absorbs it so well. I also used pink and yellow neon colors that had a bit of a glossiness. They were a little harder to work with and needed a couple of coats.

Allow your pots to completely dry. And while they’re doing so, think about what type of embellishments, drawings or words you’d like to add to them using a simple Sharpie marker.

I added a couple of simple, easy patterns for just some extra interest. There are so  many different ways you can go. Write inspirational quotes, your name, draw geometric or Aztec prints. Get creative! As long as the paint is dry, your Sharpie will do the trick!
