A Charming Desert Retreat With Its Own Shipping Container Swimming Pool
You can find this gorgeous desert oasis in Landers, California, surrounded by the Mojave Desert. It’s been built here originally in 1987 and it recently underwent a complete renovation thanks to interior designer Karen McAloon.
It’s now a modern and welcoming place, filled with natural light and with large and open spaces that take advantage of the unique location and the views.
The house is a 3-bedroom structure with the social and the private areas separated from one another. This distinction allows the bedroom wing to retain a more intimate feel and to remain quiet and tranquil while the social areas are ideal for entertaining.
The living area has access to a partially-covered patio and to a shipping container swimming pool that can double as a jacuzzi. Outside there’s also a generously-sized fire pit seating area and a detached garage.
Inside the house, the kitchen takes up one of the corner areas, featuring oak cabinets and a big island with a quart top and bar seating on two sides. The kitchen is open to the rest of the social areas, namely a dining space and a seating area beautifully delineated by textured area rugs on top of the polished concrete floor.
The three bedrooms occupy a separate wing and each communicates freely with the outdoor areas. The master bedroom has sliding barn doors, an elegant canopy bed frame and its own private patio. Its bathroom features a double walk-in shower in addition to a double sink vanity and a soaking tub. The guest bathroom is considerably smaller but very charming thanks to the stone tiles and live edge vanity.
