Crystal glasses – do we still use them?

Crystal glass manufacture used to be a very noble and hard job at the same time. Only rich people would use crystals and when they took out the crystal ware because you were visiting, it was a huge honor. There used to be certain countries with a long tradition in crystal manufacturing, among which the Czech Republic and Poland. The most famous crystals were made in Jena .

Nowadays people no longer give the same importance to having this kind of glasses in the home and they drink out of normal glasses. However, at special occasions, they do use their finest glasses that can be made of crystal. Of course they are very expensive when compared to the other glasses , but , as you know, quality always comes with a price.

The crystal glasses are well refined and but just like diamonds and have a special glitter when they reflect the light and are also … “crystal clear’. They take out a special musical sound when you touch them easily with a blunt object and are incredibly delicate. They are no longer hand made , but it still takes a lot of time until you can get the final product.

The most frequently met occasions where we use crystal glasses are weddings and celebrations, special ceremonies that require a special etiquette and also the best utensils possible. The bride and groom have their glasses decorated with flowers and little bows and also the most important family members. These glasses are used for drinking champagne and you can also use them on New Year’s Eve , when you propose, when you baptize your child and other similar occasions.

Crystal glasses are not used frequently, but some rich people do have the pleasure of drinking some “scotch on the rocks” in the living room with an honored guest from time to time, just for the sake of feeling well and important for themselves and the others.
