A Corten Steel And Concrete House Framed By The Most Beautiful Green Fence
Weathered or Corten steel is such a powerful material which stands out whenever used in architecture or interior design. This house from Içara, Brazil is no exception. In fact, when studio ES Arquitetura designed it they fully embraced the unique look of Corten steel.
They used in combination with exposed concrete for the exterior of the house and it looks wonderful. With time the steel will age and gain a unique patina and that will transform the house in an organic and natural way.
As far as the overall architecture and design of this place are concerned, the house is simple at the core. It’s structured into large volumes that overlap one another and that create big openings and transitional areas. The connection between the house and the garden is strong and beautifully emphasized by the vertical garden wall. Additionally, the house has a big two-car garage that features a green roof. The garage opens onto the street and marks the outermost boundary of the house.
The interior spaces are organized on two floors. The ground floor is where all the social areas are situated, like the living room, kitchen and dining area. The interior is big, bright and spacious and the connection to the outdoor is a seamless one thanks to the covered patio that functions as an extension of the living areas.
The upper floor in comparison houses all the private sections, namely the bedroom suites. Although they don’t have direct access to the beautiful garden or the pool area they do enjoy a great visual connection with these areas. Large windows fill them with sunlight and allow them to be naturally ventilated throughout the year.
