A Contemporary Villa In Spain With Views Of Mountains And The Sea
Villa K is a magnificent residence located in Mijas, Spain. It was a collaboration between studios Igloo Design and Marion Regitko Arquitectos who found inspiration in the beautiful surrounding landscape. The defining style of the entire project is a minimalist and contemporary one. The villa is structured on two levels connected by floating wooden stairs hanging from sleek cable rods attached to the ceiling.
The site has a very steep slope which meant part of the house had to be suspended on pillars. The designers also took advantage of the landscape by integrating part of the ground floor into the hillside and creating a strong connection between architecture and nature. They also chose a holistic design for the interior and the exterior of the villa and in that way the transition between these spaces is seamless and feels very natural.
Inside, the ambiance is very relaxed and inviting. There’s a sunken living room that’s connected to the dining area and the kitchen. It features a modular sofa that creates a U-shaped sitting area around a set of stylish coffee tables. This area opens onto a covered outdoor deck and overlooks and swimming pool.
The lower level of the house also includes a gym, a TV room, a service area as well as a series of outdoor spaces. Upstairs it houses a series of four identical bedrooms, all with their own en-suite bathroom and wardrobe. The bedrooms have sliding oak doors, minimalist interiors with monochromatic decors and access to a beautiful viewing platform.
