Contemporary Hillside House In Colorado Overlooks A Steep Ravine
Built on a remote and very beautiful site just above a creek in Aspen, Colorado, this contemporary mountain retreat enjoys a strong connection with the site and the surrounding environment. It was designed and built by CCY Architects and it’s organized into three big volumes connected to each other by transparent bridges.
Each of the volumes cantilevers slightly over a solid concrete base, emphasizing even more the abrupt and at the same time wonderfully breathtaking views of the ravine, valley and the distant mountains.
The rugged landscape plays an important role in how this beautiful hillside house was designed, its orientation, overall layout as well as the interior design and the ambiance inside. The volumes contain a spacious living area, a guest zone, a master bedroom suite and a series of secondary spaces. The open plan social area features a fireplace framed by full-height windows that bring the outdoors in and connect the space to the exterior deck.
The master bedroom has a fireplace divider which makes the entire room look and feel super warm and cozy. The kitchen has its own semi-private area on a slightly elevated floor plan. It features an amazing marble countertop and a waterfall-style island. As for the rest of the interior design, glass and concrete are the main materials used throughout, complemented by a set of stylish neutral colors.
