Contemporary BC House in Monterrey

Here we are with another contemporary residence. This time we’re going to take a loom at the BC House, a beautiful piece of contemporary architecture. The house is located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, in a very beautiful area surrounded by vegetation, mountains and a large forest. It’s not a very common location for family residences but that’s just because such locations are rare and hard to find.

The BC House is a single family residence with a contemporary design and a bold shape. The house was designed by Glr Arquitectos and it wasn’t an easy project, as the site presented several challenges. The construction was completed in 2010. The residence sits on a site measuring 12920 sqft. It’s a generous area but so is the house.

The ground floor features mostly floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow incredibly beautiful views over the forest and the mountains. This level incorporated the social areas of the house such as the living room or dining room so the large glass walls were not an inconvenient in terms of privacy. On the next level were placed the private rooms like the bedrooms or bathrooms. The windows are also large. The interior is mainly simple, with warm cream walls and wooden floors. In order to keep the symmetry and to create a uniformity throughout the house, the doors separating the rooms re also made of wood. The furniture features the same color as the doors.
