Color That Work Well In Combination With Black Furniture

Black furniture can be very stylish and elegant. It look great in modern and contemporary interior decors and, since black is a neutral color, you would think that it can be combined with basically any other color. Theoretically this is true but choosing the colors to complement your black furniture is not as easy as you would think. Still, it’s not impossible nor very difficult either.

Since the furniture is black and black is a strong color, you’ll probably want it to contrast with the rest of the décor. For that you’ll have to use brighter colors. Depending on the room you want to decorate, its function and the atmosphere you want to create, there are several options. For example, in the case of the bedroom, you can opt for pastels, light shades of green, pink, peach or turquoise to complement the black furniture you have already chosen. The style also plays an important role. If you want something classical or something minimalist, then you could opt for the black and white combo.

When you choose the other colors for the décor, think of the black furniture as a base and start from there. The other colors need to complement the black furniture. Choose the color for the walls carefully. It’s usually the color that dictates the rest of the décor but since the base is already decided in this case, you’ll have to start from there. For example, if your furniture is black and you have brown and beige accessories and accent pieces, the walls can be slightly darker shade of beige so that the overall décor is harmonious and the atmosphere is warm.

The textures you use are also important. In the case of a warm color palette such as the one described above, you can use soft textures and fabrics. You can use silk or cotton. After you’ve decided on a main color scheme for the room you’ll have to add a few accents. They don’t have to follow the same lines. In fact, it’s best if they don’t because this way they stand out and the contrasts become focal points. Accent features such as throw pillows, artwork, decorations, area rugs, etc. should be more colorful. You can opt for bold and vibrant shades that will complement your black furniture beautifully.
