Casual Spanish Summer House With a Mediterranean Design
The Palern House definitely has a Mediterranean vibe to it, especially when considered in the context of its surroundings. This is a separate, independent building designed as an extension of an existing hotel. It’s intended to serve as a holiday house and its beautiful and breezy design reflects that. You can find it at the center of Mallorca, in Spain, in a beautiful area with the gorgeous rural landscape. This is a project completed by the architect at OHLAB in 2019. The house offers a total of 180 square meters of living space (1937 square feet) which are designed to seamlessly integrate with the surroundings and to create a relaxed and laid back atmosphere.
Everything is organized on only one level, giving easy and convenient access outside of every section of the house. The floor plan is elongated and has a width limited to 6 meters for convenience and cost-efficiency. The house sits parallel to the slope which allows it to offer beautiful views from every room and to maintain a harmonious relationship with the immediate surroundings throughout the entire floor plan.
The living and dining areas are combined into an open space with terraces on each side. They have a breezy pergola ceiling that extends outside and offers shade and protection from the elements for the terraces. The pitched roof of the house and the wooden window shutters add a nice farmhouse-inspired look and allow the interior spaces to gain a bit of height in a natural way. Outside, one of the terraces overlooks a swimming pool placed on a lower level down the slope.
