A Beautiful Mountain Retreat Floating Among The Clouds

This amazing forest house is situated deep in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, in Colombia. It sits at an altitude of 1890 meters, so high up that it gives the feeling of being among the clouds. It was designed and built by architecture studio Ricardo de Castro and the project was completed in 2017. This is meant to serve as a holiday retreat and remote getaway, a place for the owners to unwind and connect to nature. It’s oriented towards N-E which gives moderate sun exposure and most importantly opens it up to the mesmerizing views.

The house is structured on two floors, each enjoying a strong connection between indoor and outdoor functions. The ground floor consists of 78 square meters of living space to which we can add the 47 square meter terrace. It’s where all the social areas are situated. The open kitchen, the dining area and the living room are centered around a fireplace. The upper floor includes 189 square meters of usable living space in total. it houses two bedrooms  each with its own bathroom as well as a large terrace with glass railings. The two floors are connected by a stylish spiral staircase made entirely of steel. The best part about this entire project is of course the amazing panorama which the house takes full advantage of.
