Beautiful balance of color and natural materials in a California estate

When you’re familiar with the style of certain designers, it’s easy to notice their trademarks when you look at a space. For example, this house has a design by Bonesteel Trout Hall and it features vibrant colors combined with natural materials and an overall relaxed and simple look that defines them perfectly. The design firm can be found in Southern California and it was founded by Heidi Bonesteel, Michele Trout and Jill Hall who also gave its name.

This property features their trademark “California look” and it has all the ingredients that make it stand out. Notice the color palette and the way the shades can be vibrant but also soothing. In the living area, for example, the décor is very well balanced. The walls and sofa share approximately the same color, a beige complemented by accent patterns.

The wooden ceiling beams then add more warmth to the space and make it feel inviting. To accentuate these colors, the designers also used a series of bold accent shades such as orange for the cushions and wall art. And to create some contrast, they also introduced a cold color: turquoise.

A similar strategy is used in all the other rooms in this house. The color palette is not very large and cohesion is kept throughout the space. For example, turquoise was used as an accent color in the dining room as well and you can also see a more pale variant of the same color in the bedroom. The outdoor area is furnished with wicker armchairs and other casual pieces.
