Stylish Two-Floor Apartment With A Modern-Scandinavian Charm

It’s very difficult and some might say even impossible to find an apartment that’s perfect from every point of view. Each one has its own pros and cons and they’re not always balanced but it’s the way in which we deal with the inconveniences and use them to our advantage that inspires us and make an apartment feel like home. Let’s take this example. This is an apartment located in Vilnius, Lithuania. Inn 2016 its interior was remodeled by Architect Indre Sunklodiene and Studio Interjero Architektura.

The apartment is structured on two levels. Each has its own functions and decor. One of the floors was quite difficult to furnish because of the long and rectangular floor plan. The designers chose to seamlessly combine the living and the dining areas. They created a central sitting area with cozy sofa modules in complementary colors. On one side there’s a white brick wall almost entirely covered by a shelving unit that has a metal frame and wooden cubbies. On the other side there’s a low storage unit that runs along the walls and ends into a comfortable bench. The dining table is placed in front of the bench and two chairs matching the sofa sit on its opposite side.

The owner chose to hang the TV on the wall, above the low storage unit. This way it can be viewed from the sitting area and it also serves as a decorative wall feature. This is one of the details which help to keep the apartment’s interior design simple, practical and at the same time elegant. The style used throughout is eclectic, being a combination of modern and Scandinavian elements.

Some unmistakable industrial details can be seen in the home office which is a cozy room with this metal mesh wall unit. As before, the metal elements are complemented by warm wood details and the result is harmonious and elegant. This area also has two work spaces. It’s basically a single long and minimalist desk with two chairs facing the back wall.

The kitchen is on the same floor as the living area. It occupies a long and narrow space which doesn’t offer too many options in terms of layout and decor. The use of neutral colors and wood elements once again pays off, giving the space a really refined and chic look.

The bedroom is very small. There’s barely enough space in here for the basic furniture pieces and the bed takes up most of the floor space. Even so, it doesn’t really feel that tiny. That’s partially because the room has a high ceiling which is emphasized by the long curtains.
