Self-Sufficient Apartment Lets You Hide A Bed In A Drawer
In a small apartment, squeezing in all the basic but robust pieces of furniture can be tricky but not impossible if you’re ingenious. Where would you hide a bed in your tiny home? This 409 square feet apartment uses a drawer for that and what an awesome idea that is!
The apartment accommodates a couple and their child and was redesigned by Anthony Gill Architects. They had to completely rethink the space and make it as functional and practical as possible by using every tiny bit of space. A large partition wall was designed and it also serves as a bookcase and a unit in which the bed is hidden.
The bed basically fits in a large drawer that slides under a platform that forms the base for the little one’s bedroom. It can slide out into the main room offering the parent’s a place to sleep at night and remain hidden the rest of the time.
The large partition wall hides both the bedroom area and the kitchen and some of the cubbies are actually used to store kitchen items such as dishes, pots and pans. The tiny kitchen makes great use of open shelves and built-in features which offer it great flexibility.
The small bedroom on the other side of the unit is set on a platform that disguises the parent’s bed and has its own little bed placed in front of the window and built into a cozy nook. Given how tiny the place is, it’s amazing how many things were achieved with such a simple design.
