Spacious Apartment Gets A Timeless And Classy Remodel
We rarely come across apartments that have such vast and open floor plans so we find this one to be quite special. The apartment we chose to review today is located in Kiev, Ukraine and has a total floor plan of 200 square meters. A few years ago it’s been remodeled by studio Yurima Architects. The main focus then was to maximize the openness of the spaces and the natural light as much as possible and that meant a few structural changes were required. The most important decision in this sense was to eliminate all corridors and to create a seamless connection between the various rooms, using sliding partitions to ensure a flexible and adaptable floor plan.
The result of the remodel was a a minimalist interior design with an emphasis on modularity and functionality. A modern kitchen opens up to a simple yet cozy living room and a chic dining space, forming an L-shaped area at the center of the apartment. There are three bathrooms in total and the apartment also has a spacious master suite with a bathroom and a dressing room which can be seamlessly opened up via sliding partitions in order to create a large space rather than 3 separate smaller ones. The floating bed puts an emphasis on just how airy and minimalist the interior design is.
The living room, although minimalist and with little furniture and accessories, has a very welcoming look and feel and that’s partially due to the presence of the modern built-in fireplace. The ceiling lighting and most of the furniture in general highlight the long and narrow nature of the floor plan but without suggesting any negative meaning. A particularly fresh and stylish little area is the dining nook which is furnished with Saarinen’s Tulip Table and Chairs complemented by an oversized pendant lamp.
