An Angular Black House Peek Between The Trees Towards The Sea
Situated in a small clearing surrounded by dense forests in British Colombia, Canada, this lovely retreat adapts beautifully to its natural context. What stands out the most and for good reason is the unusual geometry and odd proportions of the house.
This is a building with an irregular shape and that gives it a very modern look. That translates into a series of peculiar characteristics related to the interior design such as the different heights caused by the angular ceiling.
This modern forest retreat was designed by Campos Studio. It sits on a slightly sloped site and has a solid base that blends in with the terrain. Everything above this line is covered in black metal panels and wooden slats. At the center of the house stands a blackened steel column. Around it is the social area composed on the living room, kitchen and dining area. The owner’s bedroom is placed on one end of the house and the guest bedroom occupies the opposite end. They’re the private sections of the house. The center is by contrast open and enjoys a close connection to the outdoors.
