An Apartment For One Gets A Complete Makeover And An Indoor Garden
A home should fit its users and should be designed according to their unique needs and preferences. So how would you design an apartment for one? We have a pretty good idea of how we’d want such a space to look like thanks to a project completed by Olha Wood Interiors back in 2016. The team is responsible for the renovation of an apartment’s interior space. The apartment is situated on the 28th floor of a building located somewhere in Ukraine.
The owner had a few clear requests regarding the organization and the interior design of the apartment. She wanted the space to be colorful, to include a yoga area and a garden and to have room for two sofa beds for guests. The designers made all of that happen and also managed to give the apartment a lot of character by leaving some of the structural elements bare, exposing the concrete.
To ensure a warm and welcoming ambiance throughout the apartment and also to balance out the cold and rough nature of all the bare concrete surfaces, the designers incorporated two different types of wood into the decor and they used them extensively in various different forms. The flooring is especially interesting, featuring a two-tone herringbone pattern which complements the concrete dividers and the minimalist furniture pieces in the most wonderful way.
In addition to the cherry wood, oak wood and plywood, the designers also incorporates a series of pink and green elements into the apartment’s new interior design. They complement each other and they introduce eye-catching elements into the spaces. One of these elements is the indoor garden which is one of the most memorable features any apartment could have.
This array of materials, finishes, colors and textures we mentioned so far only help to create a beautiful shell for the apartment. The real character of the spaces is given by all the iconic designer furniture pieces that were selected and by all the distinctive accessories and decorative elements such as the light fixtures, the area rugs, the wall decorations and the centerpieces.
The new division of the spaces is done with the help of the bare concrete dividers as well as a series of wooden partitions or furniture pieces such as the minimalist kitchen island, the shelving unit in the bedroom or the storage module in the living area. Even the bathroom features an elegant wood partition which separates the shower, toilet and tub area from the wardrobe/ dressing room.
