An Apartment Featuring A Different Kind Of Renovation

Whenever someone says they’re going to renovate their apartment or house, they usually mean they’re going to repaint the walls, maybe put up some new wallpaper, new furniture, new flooring and basically make the place look like new again. But we all have different images of what new can mean. In the case of this apartment, the owner and the designer agreed on a different kind of renovation.

So instead of adding things to the apartment, they decided to tear down everything that could be torn down. So they striped this place down to the basics and to its bare surface. So instead of adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls, all the paint that was already on them was removed and the concrete got exposed. The same thing can be said about the ceilings and the floors. The floors were covered in a water-based sealant but this was the only adjustment made.

As for the walls and ceilings, they now have an exposed look. The apartment is, in a way, simpler and closer to the way it looked before all the finishing touches got to be added. It’s a rough look but it’s also a unique look. The furniture was kept to a minimal and only necessary elements were added. This minimalistic look is how the new owner of this apartment decided to personalize it. It’s an interesting idea for cases when you don’t agree with how the previous owners arranged the place and, of course, if you like this type of living. {found on dwell}.
