The first wood log project on our list is very small in size. It’s also unusual and interesting, inspiring us to think outside the box. You can make this in less than an hour and the supplies required include a small birch log, a saw, small hinges, clamps, sandpaper, glue, a dremel tool and a 1 1/8” drill bit. What you’ll get is a ring box which you can keep for yourself or offer as a gift. Using a similar technique you can also make a small jewelry box using wood log pieces. Large wood logs or tree stumps can look right at home in gardens, backyards and outdoor spaces in general. A very simple thing that you can do is use two logs and some scrap wood to make a lovely outdoor bench. The logs act as the base and the wood is placed on top. Leave the bark on for a more organic and authentic look but make sure the surfaces are flat are level or your bench wouldn’t actually be usable or comfortable. Slender logs (or tree branches) can be used as furniture legs for tables and desks. Although it can be quite tricky to balance out the design and to get the desk to be perfectly level and stable it all looks amazing in the end. You can add to an existing tabletop or you can craft the entire piece from scratch. It might be nice to use reclaimed wood for the top if you like the look. In any case, you’ll be able to find all the details and instructions you need on angelamariemade.

A big enough wood log slice can be the perfect top for an awesome little table. Put hairpin legs on it to give it a slender and chic look. You can leave the bark on around the edge for a more rustic vibe or you can remove it if you prefer a cleaner look. This lovely piece can become your new living room coffee table but you can also place it in a corner and use it as a side table or as a companion for your favorite reading spot. The instructions for this project can be found on burkatron.

Here’s another cool little table that’s also made using wood logs. It’s a two-tiered table with a wood slice acting as the top and another as a shelf. It makes a sweet plant stand but can also be used as an accent table in all sorts of different contexts. As you can see, the frame is made out of copper pipes and fittings. This gives the table a chic-industrial look. It also means that the project is quite simple. Check out diyinpdx if you want to find out more about it.

You can also use a log and nothing else to make yourself a cool-looking side table. Figure out how tall you want the table to be and cut the log accordingly. You can leave the bark on if you like the rustic look or you can remove it and give the table a more modern and smooth finish. This one takes things even further and features a white painted top half. This sort of customization is optional and can differ in each case. Also optional is the set of swivel casters installed on this particular table from diypassion.

Wood logs and wood slices can also serve a decorative purpose. You can use small wood slices to create a cool-looking wall display or even an entire accent wall. Of course, you’re going to need lots of wood slices so make sure you make the calculations before you start anything else. You can also use a similar technique to the one described on charlottehupfieldceramics to create wall hangings and artwork of smaller proportions which you can display around the house.

You’ve seen how a single wood log can be used to create a side table and now we’ll have a look at a coffee table made out of numerous small logs. It looks as if the entire table is just a big grid of logs but it’s actually not so you’re not going to need tons of these things for this project. There’s a wooden box underneath everything and it’s all concealed using logs on the outer edges and wood slices on top. Check out the rest of the details on easydiyandcrafts.

These half log bookends are really easy to make and quite inexpensive too. You only need half of a wood log to make two bookends and you can use the other half to make another set or something entirely different. Once you cut the log into pieces you can sand down the edges and the sides, remove the bark if you want to and also paint the logs. You can create a simple ombre design as shown here or you can come up with an entirely original idea.

This project uses the same wood box technique as mentioned earlier. This time the logs have a dark finish so the box needs to be painted black to blend in. Also, the table has a transparent glass top which lets you see all the logs underneath which is really cool. Finding all the logs and cutting them to size is the most difficult and time-consuming part of this project. Once that is out of the way, everything else is a lot easier and more fun.
