A one-of-a-kind home in Sausalito by Kiddo

There are many beautiful and original residences/boats in the Sausalito Houseboat community but this one definitely stand out. The house was originally built in the 1970s and it was designed by Japanese architect Kiddo and his team of craftsmen. The most interesting part about it is that the boat was all built in the traditional Japanese method of Joinery, using no nails in the process.

The boat measures 3,500 square feet and its owners are Patricia and Daniel, a couple that immediately fell in love with this beautiful structure. The architect names this boat “The Wildflower”. He built it to be his personal residence and the boat also turned out to be his last project, which makes it so much more interesting. The new owners decided to honor the architect by trying to recreate its original design. They combined elements from the original 70s construction with a series of updates.

The Wildflower now has some of both past and present and it’s a representation of its original and current owners’ visions. It has been recently renovated by the couple’s twin sons who used some of their own creations. This beautiful waterfront oasis has an overall rustic look with a contemporary twist and it manages to preserve its historical legacy. Not only that the whole idea of living in a boat is unusual but being able to make it look so cozy is quite impressive as well.{found on apartmenttherapy}.
