A factory turned into twin lofts in Milan

Originally a factory, this building was then renovated and turned into loft apartments. It’s located in Milan, Italy and the lofts were designed by Federico Delrosso Architects. The building was divided into two volumes. They are structurally identical and have the same internal design but seen like in the mirror. This was possible because of the original structure of the factory that was a long sleeve-shaped space divided lengthwise.

The two volumes are two separate residences. One of them, loft A, is the architect’s studio home while loft B is a separate private home owned by Alessandro Sartori. The two spaces feature the same materials and the same structure but they also have their individual characteristics. The ground floors of both lofts have mirrored halls, open kitchens, a bathroom, a dining space and a staircase. They are also opened onto a private garden. The different between the two lofts consists in the structure and design of the staircase.

The interior décor is obviously different. For example, the dining area is symmetrical in both lofts but one features a simple and modern décor while the other is baroque. The entrances of both volumes have paintings by the same artists but they are not identical. Differences can also be found in each of the rooms. The kitchens differ in terms of finishes and colors and the living areas have differently organized spaces. The two lofts are equally defined by differences and similarities.
