A colorful bright renovation by Tobi Fairley

This lovely house is located in Monticello, Arkansas. It’s a traditional house that was recently renovation by interior designer Tobi Fairley. The owners wanted to modernize their residence but they didn’t want a drastic change. They still wanted to be able to recognize the original charm of the house and to preserve most of the details. The main idea was to keep the old furniture but to change the background. The designer decided to do that with the use of color. The whole house was redecorated. The color palette includes many different shades but, even though there are many colors involved, the result is very harmonious.

The living room, for example, features as main colors shades of pink and green. These are contrasting tones and they are usually difficult to match with anything else. This area also has accents of blue and brown. The walls are pale blue, the curtains the sofa and the coffee table are pink while the armchairs and side tables are a combination of green and brown.

The bedrooms are also very colorful. One of them is almost entirely turquoise with white and brown accents and the other one features the same color combinations as the living room: green, pink and blue. The furniture has been preserved and there are a lot of antiques that were refinishes. Some new pieces were also added to update the décor.
