Hillside Home Overlooks The Expansive Valley Below

This villa is situated in Liguria, Italy. There are many interesting things about it that are worth mentioning. For starters, the villa is partially built into the hillside. A considerable portion of it is concealed underground, leaving the open areas visible and exposed.

The most imposing areas are the outdoor zones. That’s partially because they’re the only exposed ones, all the indoor spaces being nestled into the hillside. The villa has a large sun deck situated in the continuation of the main living area.

The sun deck overlooks the valley below, offering expansive and panoramic views. In front of the deck is the infinity edge pool. It can be accessed from the living room via large glass doors. The pool walls are covered with stone just like those of the villa. This establishes a strong connection between structures.

Out here there’s a space furnished with a table and comfortable chairs, serving as an outdoor living space or an extension for the indoor one.

Wood was chosen as a main material for the interior design. In combination with the stone exterior and other elements, it creates a beautiful balance of textures and colors. In the living area, a custom wall unit incorporates the TV console, a couple of shelves with accent lighting and the fireplace. The unit dialogues with the wood deck just outside this space.

The dining area is defined by a large 10 seater table complemented by different-colored classical chairs and a set of modern pendant lamps with different-shaped shades. Once again, a custom wall unit made of wood adds warmth to the space, contrasting with the polished gray floor and the white ceiling.
