Come to Leukerbad, Switzerland, to discover a place of infinite beauty where the unconventional becomes standard and where rustic meets modern in the most natural and organic way. We’re talking about the 51 Degrees, a complex comprised of luxury residences and a 6-star boutique hotel.
The buildings are designed as a series of interconnected 5-story wings. Two of them contain a total of 53 condominiums and the others house the boutique hotel which has a 20,000 square foot luxury spa on the lower level. The resort includes both the hotel restaurant as well as a semi-detached pavilion for a chef’s restaurant.
The guest rooms are all organized along a corridor facing the back of the site. This way they can all offer views of the central courtyard and the Alps beyond.
In terms of style, the entire complex is a mix between a traditional chalet and a luxurious retreat. The buildings are clad in local stone with timber detailings, a combination designed to represent the natural context and to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience.
Wood and stone were used extensively in order to create an authentic atmosphere. Others materials employed for the interior design include translucent white quartz, charcoal green slate, smokey grey granite and lots og glass designed to capture the mesmerizing views of the mountains.
Modern living standards are set in a rustic ambiance. The spa area has a design inspired by Roman, Russian and Swiss bathhouses. Every terrace has an oversized soaking tub set into a stone slab which can be accessed from both the master spa suite and the living area. The tub is equipped with Jacuzzi and the largest one can accommodate up to six people.
The privileged location, the astonishing views and the exquisite interior designs by Marc-Michaels Interior Design Inc. turn this complex into a one-of-a-kind getaway destination.
