Amazing 40 Meter Long Cantilevered Pool Goes Through A New Casino
The plans to build a casino in the small city of Murcia in Spain are taking shape and looking better than ever. Some changes were actually made halfway through the project when the owner decided to add a super long lap pool to the complex. Because the building was not designed to support the extra weight, studio Clavel Arquitectos which is in charge of the construction decided to reinforce the staircase cores and to have the new swimming pool supported on them. As a result, the Odiseo casino will have the longest overhanging pool in Europe.
The casino is currently under construction but you can already catch a glimpse at some of its core elements. The pool that we mentioned will become part of a raised platform within an elevated forest. This massive section of the building will be enclosed by a series of pipes of different lengths which form a sort of perforated shell. The swimming pool sticks out through this section and cantilevers 20 meters on each side of the platform. It’s designed to offer a unique experience and to add some drama to the building which it accomplishes in a really cool and unexpected way.
