Every once in a while we feel the need for change. The kitchen starts to look old and ugly, the colors start to look pale and annoying and we want something different. We’ve gathered a collection of simple redecorating tips you can use to change the look of your kitchen.
Use chalkboard paint on the outside of your cabinet doors. You’ll then be able to write and draw on them all sorts of things like grocery lists, recipes, messages, etc.
A new lighting fixture.
Change the décor and the mood in your kitchen with a new lighting fixture. It doesn’t really have to be new. You can make one from repurposed jars and reclaimed wood.
An herb garden.
Make a small herb garden for the kitchen so you always have the freshest ingredients when cooking. Mount some planters on a wall, use boxes or even a pallet.
Use wire baskets and containers to store vegetables, spices and to group items that sit on the counter. Get them out of the way and organized. You can hang the containers with hooks under the cabinets.
Add a rug.
A rug could really make your kitchen feel more welcoming, warm and pleasant. It doesn’t have to be big. It can sit under the kitchen island or at the center of the room, as an accessory.
Themed wall art.
In the kitchen, it can be nice and fun to get some themed wall art like paintings of fruits and vegetables or coffee mugs. An inspirational poster could also look nice here.
Wallpaper the walls.
Wallpaper is easy to install and very versatile. It’s easier than painting the walls so, if you need a change of colors for the kitchen, consider this option. You can only use wallpaper on one of the walls.
Paint the old chairs.
Tired of your old chairs? How about you give them a makeover. Some paint and a brush are all you need. Pick a nice color, different from the one the chairs originally featured.
