This used to be nothing more but an empty room in the center of Paris. It had no electricity and it was too small to become anything. That was its status when its current owners found it: two violinists who love a challenge.

The room measures only 12 square meters across. It’s too small to be divided into separate spaces and to accommodate a regular bathroom, kitchen and living space. But to every problem there’s a solution. In this case, the bathroom was hidden behind a perforated screen which offers it intimacy but also allows it to be part of the overall space. The kitchen is small and consists of a series of storage spaces with built-in microwave and a series of shelves.

The rest of the room is the living area and also the sleeping area. A wooden platform was built and in there the bed can be hidden out of sight when not needed, thus freeing the space. The whole project was designed and built on a budget but, as you can see, it allowed the owners to transform this tiny room into a habitable space with an artistic interior design.
