The Barcelona chair was designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich and was first created for the German Pavilion for the International Exposition of 1929. Later is has become a style, a type of chair also known as a BKF chair, named after the partners of the group which were Antonio Bonet, JuanKurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy. But the original BKF chair was actually a modern update of the Paragon chair which was first made in the 1870s.

The Wassily chair is also known as the Model B3 chair. It was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1925-1926 while he was the head of the cabinet-making workshop at the Bauhaus, in Dessau, Germany.
