Vimob – The Prototype Shelter You Can Take To The Top Of The Mountain
Traditional building techniques are often limited by things like the transport of materials or labor. The location is of great importance in the case of any building and traditional techniques tend to impose limits in this sense as well. When creating Vimob, the main idea was to create a shelter for areas with difficult access.
In order to solve the impediments described above, the team of Colectivo Creativo Arquitects, the ones responsible for this unique project, had to be creative. With over seven years of experience, they offer their innovative services and create projects characterized by a close relationship with the environment, simplicity and transparency, which respect the values of traditional architecture but adapt them to suit modern and contemporary designs.
Vimob is a modular housing solution made of prefabricated elements and assembled on site. This allowed the whole project to become very practical and flexible. The team was very meticulous in the details, studying all the materials, textures and all their characteristics beforehand.
Their goal was to create a simple design able to establish a harmonious connection to the environment and surroundings while also offering a cozy atmosphere inside. The prototype resulted is also characterized by lightness, rising from the ground hovering above the site in order to maintain its stability.
The Vimob shelter offers a total of 37 square meters of living space and was completed in 2015. Its interior is inviting and comfortable. Wood is the predominant materials used throughout, for features such as the flooring, the pine ceiling or the OSB wall panels.
Inside Vimob one can find a lovely living area characterized by transparency. Large sliding doors offer access to the front terrace and connect the space to its surroundings while also offering beautiful views.
This particular Vimob prototype is located in Palmira, Colombia but the fact that this is a prefab construction designed to be easy to install on sites with difficult access means that you could even take it up on top of a mountain in order to enjoy all the great views.
The building is easy to assemble and to dismantle and each one of its components was designed to be adapted to the module frame in order to minimize labor on site and to also reduce waste in raw materials, the carbon footprint of the building as well as its impact on the environment.
The rigorous control of the color palette made this project very simple. The interior design is minimalist and the chosen materials and finishes allow it to feel very warm and cozy even like that. Space distribution is well thought through and, as a result, the structure offers a cozy living area, an open kitchen, a dining space as well as a welcoming sleeping area.
Full height sliding glass doors let in all the great views in addition to lots of natural light. Strategically placed floor lamps and ceiling lights take care of the task lighting. There’s even a small corner work space sheltered in a semi-private nook where natural light plays a very small role.
After analyze all the main characteristics of this project, it’s easy to see why Vimob would appeal to a lot of people. Its ability to harmonize with the backdrop gives it a top advantage over other similar projects.
