Urban Lofts in Greece

Urban Lofts is a building located in Gazi, Athens, Greece, at the intersection of Voutadon and Iakhou Streets. It was designed by Charis Gkikas & Evaggelia Filtsou with the help of Alpha Land Developers and interior designer Theano Potamianou-Ravazoula. It was a 1.200 sqm project and it was completed in 2011. The building was constructed using rough and raw materials like concrete and metal.

The ground floor is a commercial area with access from the Voutadon street. The access to the apartments, on the other hand, is made from the Iakhou street, thus the separation being very clear. The rest of the building, besides the commercial floor, is occupied by lofts. There are four lofts spread through two floors and a penthouse on the top floors. There’s a central stairwell that unifies them all.

The façade of the building is a combination of folds of reinforced concrete and metal blinds and glass frames in the background. The top floors offer expansive views of the Technopolis, Kerameikos, Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill.

The building incorporates innovative techniques, energy saving systems and the use of environmentally friendly, fully recyclable materials, resulting in a sustainable and sophisticated structure. What’s very interesting about this building is the way the spaces have been separated. They are all part of the same structure but they have private access ways and they don’t really relate to the other ones.{found on archdaily and pics by Vangelis Paterakis}
