Transparent attic bedroom in Belgium

This unusual space was designed by M Architecture. It’s the attic bedroom of a private residence located in Masnuy-Saint-Jean, Belgium. The area measures a total of 30 square meters and it features a very simple design. The minimalist lines and the simplicity of the whole image are part of the architects’ initial plan.

The main idea behind this project was to work with transparency and special continuity and to create an out-of-the-box décor. It might seem like a very simple and easy project but sometimes the simplest-looking elements are the hardest ones to create. In this case, the limited floor plan posed some problems. The room is only 1.5 meters wide so working with those dimensions wasn’t easy. The architects had to adapt their ideas to the size and location and to come up with the perfect design for this space.

Even though the room seems very simple, achieving these results required advanced technical planning and lots of hard work. The final design was organized around the bathroom, a rather unusual choice. The bathroom is encased in a curved glass box and this way it doesn’t obstruct the openness of the space. However, transparency is not the best choice for such a private part of the house. But, as you already noticed, this is a project designed for an open-minded client who is not scared of experimenting new and unusual designs. In order to achieve this look, most water pipes had to be concealed. The furniture and the mirrors are integrated into the walls.

As for the rest of this space, it’s a very minimalist room. It features a bed, a dressing table and the transparent bathroom. The walls, ceiling and the floor are white and all the furniture is minimalist and modern. It’s an uncommon interior design but it’s also a very inspiring project.{pics by bepictures}.
