Tips for Redecorating on a Budget

Just because you may be on a tight budget, that doesn’t mean you can’t redecorate any room in your home and have it turn out spectacularly. With a few helpful tips in mind, you can redecorate any space in your house, while staying safely within your budget. When you’re redecorating on a budget, the first step is being sure of exactly how much you have to spend.

Actually setting the budget is the initial move, so you’re aware of the amount of money you have to work with and can start planning out the design plan.Planning is crucial anytime you’re redecorating, but especially when being thrifty is your main goal.

To save money, purchase pieces that do double duty. From an ottoman with built-in storage to a futon that works as a sofa and a bed, these items save you money and make a room more functional.

Pieces of art add drama and interest to any space, and don’t think you have to blog big bucks to buy a Picasso. Make your own piece of art at home and save big. The best part is that you end up with a beautiful piece of art that adds personality to the room, as well as having a personal piece you can be proud of.

Don’t forget about reusing items you already have. There is no need to spend money on all new pieces to include in a room when you can reuse pieces you have. You may have some knick knacks hanging around the house, or a small table sitting in a corner that’s not really being used. You can use them as is in your new room design, or refurbish items and give them a brand new look. Even doing something as seemingly simple as replacing the hardware on a dresser makes a big difference and gives you a new piece more suited to the new space.

Paint decorative vases and containers in complementary colors to create a sort of theme, and use them as decorations in a room. Or turn them into candle holders to help turn your bedroom into a romantic space where you can just sit back and relax. Go to sales at stores, shop around at yard sales and auctions to get great pieces at prices you can afford. You don’t have to pay full price to get the pieces you want.

One of the quickest and most affordable ways to give a room a brand new look is by giving the walls a fresh coat of paint. A gallon or two of paint isn’t going to cost you much and can be all you need to give a room a whole new personality.

These are just a few simple tips to help you decorate on a budget with money-saving projects and ideas. There is no reason to ever feel as though you have to spend a fortune just to redo a space and get it looking how you want.  Many people put off redecorating projects purely for the purpose of saving money, and it’s not necessary. When you know how to redecorate on a budget, you can redo any room without the worry of going overboard and spending more than you can afford.{picuture sources:1,2,3,4,5,6 and 7}.
