Tiny Hobbit Home Carved In Bonsai Trees

Bonsai trees are very beautiful and interesting because of their size and this also makes them very cute. They are wonderful decorations but, as this artist shows us, they can become much more spectacular with a little talent and patience. Artist and bonsai enthusiast Chris Guise has created a very beautiful collection of Bonsai decorations, amongst which we found these tiny hobbit houses.

The artist has created the homes of Bilbo Baggins, Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee, the ones we’ve seen at both the beginning and the end of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit tales. These tiny hobbit houses feature amazing details and an intricate design. They actually look like the houses described in the books and presented in the movies.

Here is some information about the project. The tree has a shari down the trunk and the edges are covered with cut paste. Then the trunk was hollowed out further using a dremel. The drainage mesh and tie-wires were added to the slab, a mound of akadama was placed on it. After the tree was positioned and secured, the fun part began.

A mound of soil was built behind the frontage. The frontage was built onto a plastic mesh backing. This mesh also has the role of binding everything together, giving the whole piece more stability and durability. The bricks that were used here were cut from a roofing tile. It’s amazing how beautiful are all the little details. The house even has a tiny brass doorknob. The fence is made of wood and has a dark stain. Everything looks perfect.

As you can imagine, it took the artist a lot of time to finish such a project. It also took passion and determination. It’s even more beautiful when you’ve actually enjoyed working at the project.
